Mariposa
Beach Suites
is located just outside of town (a 15-minute walk) and as the name suggests,
right on the beach. This private residence, owned by our good friends
Peter and Marcia Fox, has three suites on the property. The foxes are
wonderful hosts and will likely invite guests up to the main house for
drinks at least once during the course of your stay. Their warmth and
charm are contagious and both Peter and Marcia are a wealth of information
about the village and peninsula.

The Spanish colonial design of the manor reflects the deep Spanish influence
that exists throughout much of Belize. Two of the suites open right up
on to the beach while the Cassita is located about 10 yards
from the main house. Each suite is at ground level and comes with a fully
equipped kitchen. Supplies (beer, wine, and food) can be order ahead of
time and will be waiting in the suites for your arrival. Guests will enjoy
a private stretch of beach along with strategically placed hammocks throughout
the property. Two thatched palapas are located on the beach to provide
shade and are a great place to sip a cocktail at the end of the day. Weve
had clients catch all manner of jacks, barracuda, and several permit,
right in front of their suites while practicing their casting.

There are
many excellent restaurants in Placencia and dining out at the various
restaurants in the village is a great way to experience the warmth and
hospitality of the village. Placencia
has a richly deserved reputation as one of the best permit destinations
in the world and fly rodders come from all over to fish for them here.
The flats to the north east of the village good numbers of permit and
many anglers who are serious about catching a permit on a fly rod eventually
end up here. The backcountry fishing to the west and south of Placencia
is excellent and largely ignored by many that come to fish here. We encourage
our guests to spend at least a day fishing this wonderful fishery.

On calm days, our BFFE guides will pick guests up for their day of fishing
on the beach in front of their suites. If theres a breeze, pick
up will be done at the back lagoon (about a 3-minute walk). Meals can
taken in town or guests can cook for themselves or a combination of the
two.
