Our guests comfort level is extremely important to us, which is why we limit the number of guests on the “cat” to four per week. With each guest having his or her own stateroom, the trip unfolds in an uncrowded and relaxed atmosphere. The outdoor breakfast/cocktail area has plenty of room and comes equipped with a canopy that can be put up or taken down in a moment’s notice.

Our guests can fish Deer Caye, the Santa Cruz Lagoon, Cayo Negro, and the powder white sand flats that stretch up to Punta San Juan, and beyond. You won’t fish the same place during the course of your week, unless of course, you want to.
The flats, estuaries, and lagoons of this region are rich with bonefish, tarpon, barracuda, and Jack crevalle. Anglers will be thrilled at the number of quality shots that they will get at tarpon in particular. “Poons” in the 30 to 80 pound class are here year round with the larger fish appearing in late spring. By living on the “flotel” in the midst of such productive fishing grounds, guests can really maximize their fishing day.

Interest in fly fishing a destination from a “Mothership” has increased dramatically over the past several years. And why not when the accommodations are comfortable, very private, and moored in the heart of some excellent tarpon and bonefish grounds?
Belize flats Fishing Expeditions is pleased to announce the addition of our new Bahia 46 Fountaine Pagot Catamaran. This extremely well appointed yacht has four staterooms, each with a private head and shower. Gear junkies will be satisfied with the spacious interior of the staterooms, as there is ample space for rods, fly boxes, camera gear, and whatever else one can think of bringing a trip like this.

The interior dining room is spacious and well laid out and comes equipped with a full home entertainment center. DVD, stereo, and a VCR are all part of the package for our guests comfort and pleasure. Smoking a fine Cuban cigar with an ice cold beer in hand after dinner, while watching a video on how to land giant tarpon in preparation for the following day’s adventure, is a great way to pass a couple of hours on board your yacht at night.

While we have several locations from which to base the yacht for the week, including Turneffe and the Lighthouse Reef Atoll, we highly recommend Deer Caye, just south of the Belize Mexico border. Our success in this area last winter has convinced us that this area is an excellent location to spend a week.

Guests will be met at the International Airport in Belize City and flown up to San Pedro. From there, a waiting water taxi will run you out to the yacht where you’ll enjoy a fine lunch and open bar. All meals on board are prepared by our chef, who will happily cook to individual tastes. The food is wonderful and guests can expect fresh breads, fruits, vegetables, and seafood throughout the week.
